Formula-K Ready for Crucial ROK Winter NATS Double-Header
The 2026 SA National ROK Karting Championship heads to Formula-K Raceway this weekend for another important double-header, with Rounds 5 and 6 set to play a major role in the championship battles across the national classes.
After two competitive national weekends at Red Star Raceway and GT Raceway, the championship now moves to its Winter NATS stop, where drivers will face two full national rounds across one packed weekend. With qualifying and three heats scheduled on both Saturday and Sunday, there will be little margin for error as the country’s leading ROK drivers look to build momentum before the final stretch of the season.
The weekend will also carry added excitement, with the Northern Regions FKR Karting and Northern Regions Tillotson T4 Karting Club Championship adding further depth to the programme. Rounds 4 and 5 of the Northern Regions competition will run in parallel with the national event, adding even more intensity to the schedule. With national and regional competitors all in action, Formula-K is set for a busy and highly competitive karting weekend.
In the Cadet/Tillotson Cadet class, Grayson Venter arrives as the championship leader on 398 points after a strong and consistent start to the season. Behind him, Yerhu Malabie sits second on 210 points, with Christopher Grimmick third on 183. Venter has opened a healthy advantage at the top, but the fight behind him remains very alive, with Malabie and Grimmick both looking to strengthen their positions at Formula-K.
Mini ROK has delivered one of the closest championship fights so far, with Kayde Cornofsky leading the standings on 398 points. Maddox Mason is still well within reach in second on 378, while Riley van Staden remains firmly in contention in third on 355. With only 43 points separating the top three, every heat this weekend could have a significant impact on the title race.
In OKJ, Mattao Mason has set the standard through the opening part of the season and heads to Formula-K with a perfect 420 points. The battle behind him, however, is much tighter. Thekiso Retlotleng holds second on 345 points, just five points ahead of Logan Billau in third. Mason will be aiming to continue his dominant run, while Retlotleng and Billau are set for an important fight of their own as they look to secure second in the championship standings.
The OK-N class is also finely balanced heading into Rounds 5 and 6. Jack Moore leads the way on 389 points, but the pressure remains on, with Chase Haskins and Aidan Calitz tied on 364 points behind him. Haskins is currently listed second, with Calitz third, setting up a fascinating battle between the two as they look to close in on Moore at the front.
Formula-K Raceway is known for producing close, technical racing, and this weekend will demand more than outright speed. Qualifying will be important, but consistency, clean racing, and strong heat management could prove just as decisive across two full national rounds.
As the SA National ROK Karting Championship moves into the second half of the season, Rounds 5 and 6 could become a defining weekend in the 2026 title race. With national championship contenders, the Northern Regions FKR Karting and Tillotson T4 competitors all part of the programme, Formula-K Raceway is set for one of the busiest and most exciting karting events of the year.
Entry to the event is free and spectators are welcome.
