Gqeberha’s Rising Karting Star Aims to Dazzle on Home Soil
Aashay Nagura is all set to light up the Celso Scribante Kart Circuit in Gqeberha this weekend, as Round 3 of the 2025 MSA National ROK Cup Karting Championship heads to the Eastern Cape. It marks a return to familiar territory for the rising star who will be hoping to build on his stellar OK-Junior debut in Cape Town, where he finished on the overall podium.
After starting the season in the Mini ROK category at Red Star Raceway, Aashay made the bold decision to step up to the faster and more physically demanding OK-Junior class from Round 2 onwards. That decision paid immediate dividends as the Kokoro Racing Academy driver adapted rapidly, finishing third overall at Killarney in only his first national outing in the class.
Celso Scribante, a circuit Aashay knows well from regional competition, offers a golden opportunity to continue his momentum. His experience around the technical Gqeberha layout could prove crucial as he looks to challenge the national frontrunners like Jack Moore and Reagile Mailula.
Backed by a formidable support network, including the Bronscor Group, Sparco South Africa, INGCO South Africa, and Score Immune Booster, Aashay aims to utilise his local knowledge and growing confidence in the OK-Junior kart to his advantage.
Friday’s practice sessions will be followed by qualifying and three heats on Saturday that will determine the overall victor. With the championship now at its mid-point, Aashay might not be in the championship running, but it serves as another opportunity to show his racing prowess.
Can the hometown hero deliver and climb further up the championship ladder? All eyes will be on the #27 kart this Saturday in Gqeberha.
