Max Boshoff Targets OK-Junior Comeback Charge at Vereeniging Double-Header

Rounds three and four of the National ROK Cup Karting Championship mark a long-awaited return to Vereeniging, with the newly named GT Raceway set to host the national field for the first time in two years. The fast-flowing circuit, known for its technical infield and rewarding rhythm sections, is expected to play a decisive role as the championship begins to take shape heading into the mid-season phase. 

For Cape Town’s Max Boshoff, the weekend presents both opportunity and redemption. The reigning national Mini ROK champion arrives at Vereeniging off the back of a strong opening to his campaign, having secured four podium finishes from six heats across the opening two rounds. On outright pace, Max has firmly established himself as one of the front-running contenders in the category. 

However, a costly zero-score heat in Round 1 has significantly impacted his championship standing. Despite his consistent performances on track, Max finds himself down in eighth overall, trailing the early championship leader by 57 points, a deficit that does not reflect his true competitiveness. 

With valuable experience and proven racecraft at the national and international level, the focus now shifts to recovery. Vereeniging offers a critical platform to claw back lost ground and reassert his title credentials against a tightly packed OK-Junior field. 

“I know we’ve left points on the table, and that’s frustrating, but the focus now is on making that back,” Max explained. “We’ve shown we have the pace, and this weekend is about putting everything together, using my experience, and delivering the kind of results we know we’re capable of.” 

The event follows a demanding double-header format, with Friday dedicated entirely to practice as drivers fine-tune their setups. Saturday will host Round 3, beginning with an early-morning qualifying session, followed by three competitive heats, while Sunday will mirror that structure for Round 4. 

As the championship narrative builds, Max heads into Vereeniging with clear intent: convert pace into points, minimise mistakes, and reignite his charge toward the front of the standings.
