Josh Moore heads to the iconic Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit on 13–14 November 2026 for the final round of the Astron Energy Polo Cup, bringing a demanding rookie season to its conclusion. The Worx Motorsport SA driver has two races remaining to turn the experience gained throughout the year into a strong finish to his first national Polo Cup campaign.
Moore made the step up after finishing runner-up in the 2025 Volkswagen Rookie Cup, where he recorded three victories and three further podium finishes. With the backing of Worx Motorsport SA and Fleet Dynamics, the Eastern Cape racer began 2026 with a successful development season behind him, but plenty to learn in the closely contested Polo Cup field.
His debut at Killarney in March immediately showed promise. Moore reached the Superpole shootout and set the fourth-fastest time before a penalty moved him back on the grid. He finished eighth in the opening race, although an incident with three laps remaining forced him out of Race 2. The speed was encouraging; completing a clean weekend proved more difficult.
At Red Star Raceway in April, Moore again progressed to Superpole and finished the shootout fourth. He briefly climbed to second at the start of the opening race, but the afternoon became a tougher lesson in defending positions and managing the midfield battles. Finishes of 16th and 12th gave him more race experience, although the results fell short of his qualifying performance.
May’s visit to Zwartkops brought a different setback. A persistent electronic issue affected the car from Friday afternoon and left Moore 16th on the grid. He responded by working his way to tenth in Race 1, recovering six positions despite the difficult start to the weekend. It was an early demonstration of the persistence his debut season would demand.
A return to the Eastern Cape in June brought a more settled performance. Racing at Aldo Scribante during Volkswagen South Africa’s 75th anniversary celebrations, Moore finished seventh in the opening race and sixth in the second. Two top-seven finishes gave him a stronger points return and something to build on through the second half of the season.
His August programme included back-to-back weekends at Aldo Scribante. Moore won both VW Challenge Class A races at the regional meeting before returning for the national Polo Cup round a week later. He completed both national races, adding another full weekend of racing to his experience in the category.
By the penultimate round at Zwartkops in October, Moore was again showing encouraging pace. He was fifth fastest in the opening and final practice sessions before qualifying ninth. On race day, he advanced to sixth in the first encounter and climbed from seventh to sixth in the second, securing seventh overall on combined race times.
Those results bring him to eighth in the championship. Milan Emslie is just two points ahead in seventh, while Christopher Tait trails Moore by four. With the drivers around him so closely matched on points, the final two races offer a clear opportunity to improve his championship position.
Kyalami became the championship’s final stop after the cancelled September meeting at Killarney was replaced on the calendar. The seventh round now forms part of the South African Endurance Series finale, giving Moore’s rookie campaign a closing appearance at one of the country’s most celebrated circuits.
The 4.522km, 16-turn anticlockwise layout combines fast straights, technical corners and natural elevation changes. For Moore, it provides a demanding final examination after a season that has already required him to recover from incidents, work through technical difficulties and learn how to turn promising pace into race results.
His latest pair of sixth places gives him a useful result to build on. With seventh in the standings within reach, the focus now turns to putting together a complete weekend at Kyalami and ending his first Polo Cup season on a positive note.
