Sole Toyota Entry Van der Merwe Ready to Take on Volkswagen Field
Dawie van der Merwe heads to the penultimate round of the South African Touring Cars SupaCup Championship holding fourth in the points standings. The Killarney International Raceway once again plays host, the very venue where the season kicked off, and where Dawie will look to build on his campaign.
Competing in the Fast Developments-prepared Toyota Gazoo Racing SupaStarlet, Dawie remains the only non-Volkswagen entry on the grid. Despite the challenges of running as the sole Toyota competitor against a field of more developed Volkswagens, Dawie has continued to extract every ounce of performance from his car, earning a reputation for resilience and determination. Three fourth-place finishes are the best results so far for the young Mbombela businessman, who will be aiming to clinch his first podium of the season. With only two rounds left in the season, Dawie will be aiming to close the gap to the front-runners and cement his place in the championship fight.
“Killarney is one of those circuits I really enjoy, anything can and usually does happen here. That unpredictability is what makes it so exciting, and I’m ready to give it everything,” said Dawie.
The action gets underway on 12 September with several practice sessions before two races are set to entertain the local crowds on Saturday. For more information, please visit https://extremefestival.co.za/capetown250913/
