Steyn Claims Micro MAX Runner-Up Finish at Vereeniging SARMC
Centurion's rising star, Adriaan Steyn, continued his strong national campaign with a determined performance at Round 2 of the 2025 South African Rotax MAX Challenge (SARMC) hosted at the Vereeniging Kart Circuit this past weekend. The former national Bambino champion delivered a consistent showing to claim a well-earned second place overall in the Micro MAX class.
Adriaan started the weekend strongly by narrowly missing out on pole position, qualifying second by just 0.023 seconds. His pace was evident throughout Saturday's racing, although outright victories eluded him.
In the opening heat, Adriaan crossed the line in fifth, managing to salvage solid points after a spirited drive. In Heat 2, he battled in a tightly packed leading group to finish sixth. Saving his best performance for the final race, Adriaan lined up in pole position and executed a strong race to finish second, securing the overall runner-up spot for the event.
Reflecting on his weekend, Adriaan commented: "We had great pace and were right there from the start. Although I didn't get a heat win this time, the consistency across all three races paid off. Thank you to Greensky, Q4 Fuels, and Sparco for their amazing support. I'm excited for the next round and will be pushing hard to go one better."
The results see Adriaan maintain strong momentum in the championship standings as the SARMC heads into the mid-season stages. With his pace continuing to improve, he remains firmly in contention for national honours and a coveted spot on Team South Africa for the Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals later this year.
