Alonzo Claims Win and Vereeniging Runner-Up

OMP/Motorsport Fanatix™ brand ambassador Alonzo De Oliveira claimed a heat victory and two runner-up finishes to secure second overall in Micro MAX at Saturday’s fourth round of the Northern Regions Rotax Kart Championships at Vereeniging’s GT Raceway.

Alonzo qualified third in the competitive 12-kart field, placing himself firmly among the leading contenders for the day’s three heats.

A determined drive in the opening heat saw Alonzo move to the front at half-distance before holding off sustained pressure to take the victory. The result gave him the maximum 35 points and put him in a strong position heading into the afternoon.

Alonzo remained in the fight throughout the second heat, briefly leading during the early stages before finishing a close second. He again challenged at the front in the final heat, leading at different stages before taking the chequered flag in second place.

His victory and two runner-up finishes earned him 99 points and second overall for the day, missing the top step of the podium by just one point.

“I’m very happy with our performance because we fought at the front in every heat,” said Alonzo. “Winning the first heat was a great feeling, and we came very close in the other two. Thank you to my team for giving me a competitive kart and to my family, sponsors and everyone supporting me. We will keep working hard and come back ready to fight again.”

The result marked another encouraging performance in Alonzo’s rookie Micro MAX season as he continues to gain experience and establish himself among the category’s leading competitors.
