De Oliveira Targets Strong Regional Micro MAX Debut

Reigning national, African Open and Northern Regions Bambino Champion Alonzo de Oliveira embarks on an exciting new chapter in 2026 as he steps up to the fiercely competitive Micro MAX category.

After a dominant Bambino campaign that saw him secure multiple major titles, including national and African Open honours, the young Stretto Racing driver now faces a significantly deeper field filled with experienced Micro MAX campaigners. The move marks a critical progression in his karting development, demanding greater technical precision, racecraft maturity and adaptability across varying track conditions.

Operating out of the highly respected Stretto Racing stable, Alonzo enters the season with the confidence of a champion but the mindset of a rookie eager to learn. Micro MAX presents a step up in pace, chassis dynamics and race intensity, and while many of his rivals bring a season or more of experience in the class, Alonzo’s proven ability to adapt quickly under pressure positions him as a serious contender from the outset.

Having built a reputation for resilience, race intelligence and calculated aggression during his Bambino title-winning campaigns, the focus now shifts to establishing early momentum. Setting the pace in the opening rounds will be crucial, not only to stake a championship claim but to send a message to the established front-runners.

“This is a new challenge for me, but I’m ready for it,” said Alonzo. “Micro MAX is very competitive and I know I have a lot to learn, but we’ve prepared well and I’m excited to race against the best.”

The action kicks off on Friday with practice, followed by qualifying and three race heats on Saturday.
