Cornofsky Crowned Mini ROK Vice Champion After Fierce Red Star Finale
Former National Kid ROK Champion, Kayde Cornofsky, concluded his 2025 MSA National ROK Cup Kart Championship campaign with a courageous performance at Red Star Raceway on 23 August, securing the title of Mini ROK Vice Champion after a nail-biting season finale.
The young Johannesburg driver, representing the Xtreme Racing Team, entered the final round determined to close the gap to the leader, knowing a touch of luck would also be needed. From the outset, Kayde showed his intent, leading several of the heats with confident overtakes and smart racecraft. His pace in the early stages kept him firmly in contention, and his resilience under pressure was once again a hallmark of his weekend.
However, in a field stacked with national-level talent, the competition proved relentless. Despite his best efforts, Kayde’s rivals responded fiercely in the closing laps, and he was ultimately forced to settle for fourth overall on the day. Those points were enough to confirm him as the runner-up in the national Mini ROK championship, still a remarkable achievement in just his second season in this class.
Reflecting on the finale, Cornofsky said:
"I gave it everything today. We had the pace to fight at the front, and to lead as many laps as I did proves how far we’ve come as a team. Of course, I wanted the championship, but to finish second in South Africa in such a competitive class is something I’m proud of. A huge thank you to my team and sponsors who made this possible."
Kayde’s 2025 campaign has been one of consistency, determination, and growth. From podiums and heat wins to fighting at the sharp end in every round, he has established himself as one of the most exciting young prospects in South African karting.
As always, Kayde extends his heartfelt gratitude to his sponsors Canario Cornofsky Attorneys, Calisto’s Portuguese Restaurant, Allegiance Properties, Smith Garage, the 357, and AMW for their unwavering support throughout the season.
