De Oliveira Chasing Double Glory: African Open Winner Targets National Crown
With just one round left in the 2025 MSA South African Rotax MAX Challenge, Alonzo de Oliveira sits at the top of the Bambino championship standings, ready to fight for the biggest prize of his young career.
The Johannesburg youngster has been one of the standout performers this season, carrying momentum from his 2024 Northern Regions title into a superb national campaign. His crowning moment came earlier this year at Zwartkops Kart Raceway, where the Motorsport Fanatix ambassador stormed to victory in the prestigious African Open, a result that underlined his growing reputation as one of South Africa’s brightest rising stars.
Now, Alonzo returns to the same circuit with the national championship within his grasp. But with four heats instead of the usual three set to decide the outcome, the pressure is on to deliver a consistent, strong set of results.
“This is the moment I’ve been working toward all year,” said Alonzo. “Winning the African Open at Zwartkops was unforgettable, but the national title is the big one. I know it won’t be easy with four races, but I’m ready to give it everything for myself, my team, and my supporters.”
With a season of hard work and determination behind him, Alonzo and Stretto Racing are focused on finishing the job at the home of South African karting.
Alonzo is proudly backed by Ceelin, Y2K Germiston, MSLB Projects, Amigos Portugueses, Freddy Hirsch, S.Y. Wholesale Butchery, Hercules Foods, Hercules Sauces and HPP.
