De Oliveira Clinches Regional Victory to Tighten Grip on Bambino Championship

Ceelin-backed Motorsport Fanatix™ ambassador Alonzo de Oliveira delivered a composed and determined performance at Round 4 of the Northern Regions Rotax Kart Championship, held at Zwartkops Kart Raceway on 16 August 2025.

Despite facing fierce competition from Teresa Bettencourt and Sebastien Shuttleworth, Alonzo’s consistency across the heats proved decisive. He scored 29 points in Heat 1, 32 points in Heat 2, and 35 points in the final, amassing 96 points – enough to secure the overall victory by a single point.

Bettencourt (95 points) and Shuttleworth (94 points) kept the pressure on throughout the day, ensuring the Zwartkops round was one of the most competitive yet in the Bambino season. But Alonzo’s ability to absorb the pressure and deliver when it mattered most saw him stand tall on the top step of the podium.

This victory further strengthens Alonzo’s Northern Regions Bambino Championship campaign, where he leads the standings after four rounds. His season has been marked by resilience, bouncing back from mechanical setbacks earlier in the year to reaffirm his reputation as the driver to beat in South Africa’s most junior category.

Speaking after the weekend, Alonzo expressed his delight:

With just two regional rounds remaining, Alonzo heads into the championship’s final stretch with strong momentum. Attention will now shift to the final national in two weeks time at the same venue.
