Final-Heat Charge Seals Vereeniging Victory for DE OLIVEIRA

OMP/Motorsport Fanatix™ brand ambassador Alonzo De Oliveira strengthened his MSA Northern Regions Rotax Kart Championship campaign with an impressive overall Micro MAX victory at GT Raceway in Vereeniging on Saturday.

Arriving at the circuit only three points behind the championship leader, the Stretto Racing driver delivered three podium finishes from three starts during his first visit to GT Raceway this season.

After qualifying third, Alonzo made a strong start in Heat 1 and quickly moved into second. He remained firmly in the fight at the front before taking the chequered flag as runner-up.

A difficult start to Heat 2 dropped him to fifth, but Alonzo responded with a determined drive through the field. He regained two positions during the race and secured third place, keeping himself in contention for the overall victory.

Starting the final heat from pole position, Alonzo led the opening exchanges before slipping to third during a closely contested battle. Refusing to let the victory get away, he remained within striking distance and launched a decisive attack on the final lap. The move carried Alonzo from third into the lead, allowing him to take the chequered flag and secure the round victory.

“I knew I had to stay close and be ready for my chance on the final lap,” said Alonzo. “When the opportunity came, I went for it. I’m very happy to win the round, and I want to thank my family, Stretto Racing, OMP and Motorsport Fanatix for all their support.”

His second-, third-, and first-place results earned him 97 points and the overall Micro MAX win. The victory extends Alonzo’s impressive run of consistency and keeps him firmly in contention for the regional championship.
