Goosen Targets Redemption on Aldo Return

Jayden Goosen will return to the Aldo Scribante Racetrack for the fifth round of the Astron Energy Polo Cup following a change to the championship schedule.

The Eastern Cape round was initially scheduled to take place at the East London Grand Prix Circuit, but has since been moved back to Aldo Scribante. The change gives Goosen an early opportunity to return to a circuit where he showed encouraging pace during the previous round.

The Pretoria teenager progressed to the top-six Superpole Shootout on his last visit, underlining the potential of his AA-backed Polo Cup. However, that promising qualifying performance did not translate into the result he had hoped for after an opening-lap incident brought his first race to an early end.

With the team repairing the damaged car, Goosen returned for the second encounter and produced a determined drive through the field. Starting 15th, he gained seven positions to finish eighth and leave Gqeberha with a clear indication of what might have been.

Although the East London circuit would have presented a fresh challenge, returning to Aldo gives Goosen and his team the benefit of recently gathered data. The focus will now be on refining the car’s setup and turning his proven qualifying speed into two strong race results.

“It is a little unusual to return to the same circuit so soon, but I’m looking forward to it,” said Goosen. “We had very good pace at Aldo during the previous round and made it into Superpole, so we know the potential is there. Unfortunately, the first race ended before we could show what we were capable of, but this gives us another opportunity. We also have fresh data to work with, which should help us get the most out of the car and the conditions.”

Goosen heads into the fifth round determined to build on the progress already made and secure the results that his pace at Aldo Scribante suggested were possible.
