History Made: Tyler Robinson Claims Breakthrough SupaCup Podium at Red Star
Tyler Robinson delivered a landmark performance at Red Star Raceway this past weekend, securing her first South African Touring Cars SupaCup podium with a race runner-up finish and placing herself firmly among the championship’s front runners.
The rookie, and the only female competitor on the grid, once again proved her ability to rewrite the record books. Already recognised as the youngest female race winner in Polo Cup history following her breakthrough victory at Kyalami in 2025, Robinson added another milestone to her growing résumé with a composed and highly competitive showing in Mpumalanga.
Her weekend began with intent. A front-row qualifying effort laid the foundation for Race 1, where Robinson's skill and composure shone as she defended against more experienced Racers, earning admiration from fans and peers alike.
Race 2 presented a different challenge. Promoted to pole position based on her Race 1 lap time, Robinson faced the well-known disadvantage of starting on the inside line at Red Star, where the run to Turn 1 often leaves the pole sitter vulnerable. As anticipated, she was forced wide through the opening corner and dropped back to fourth before Turn 2.
Despite the early setback, Robinson remained firmly in the fight. Showing maturity beyond her experience, she battled throughout the race to recover positions, ultimately crossing the line in fifth to secure an overall podium finish across the weekend.
As a former FIA Girls on Track – Rising Stars finalist, Robinson’s progress sparks excitement among fans and supporters, reinforcing her potential to succeed on the international stage as she prepares for her upcoming race in Germany.
The series, built around equal machinery and robust driver development support, offers a critical pathway for emerging talent to step into international competition. Robinson’s inclusion in the championship aligns with her long-term ambition of establishing a professional career abroad, supported by structured coaching, media exposure, and competitive one-make racing.
With momentum firmly on her side, Robinson’s Red Star performance may well prove to be the catalyst for the next phase of her career.
