Jayden Goosen Set for 2026 Astron Energy Polo Cup Season

Rising South African racer Jayden Goosen is set to embark on an exciting new chapter in his career when he lines up for his debut season in the Astron Energy Polo Cup, with the 2026 campaign getting underway next weekend at the Killarney International Raceway in Cape Town.

The upcoming season represents a significant step up for the young driver, who returns to the iconic Western Cape circuit, having raced there in 2024 in the VW Rookie Cup. That experience at Killarney should prove valuable as he prepares to take on a highly competitive field in one of South Africa’s most respected single-make championships.

Jayden heads into the new season on the back of a championship-winning campaign in the regional ATE VW Challenge in Gauteng, where he showcased impressive pace and consistency throughout the season. His success in the regional championship highlighted his progression through the ranks and provided the perfect springboard into the national Polo Cup series.

Before committing to a full Polo Cup campaign, the former karter and INEX Legends racer gained valuable experience during the final round of the 2025 Astron Energy Polo Cup at Zwartkops Raceway. On that occasion, the Pretoria teenager delivered a standout performance, securing the overall victory for the weekend.

While the result was an encouraging sign of his potential in the category, Jayden remains realistic about the challenge that lies ahead.

“Winning at Zwartkops last year was a great confidence boost heading into this season, but I know a full Polo Cup campaign is a completely different challenge. The field is incredibly competitive, and there are many experienced drivers on the grid. My goal is to keep learning, stay consistent and build momentum as the season progresses. I’m really excited to start the season at Killarney and see where we stack up.”

Jayden’s racing journey began in karting, where he developed the racecraft and competitive mindset that laid the foundation for his transition into circuit racing. He later expanded his experience in INEX Legends, further refining his driving skills before moving into saloon car racing and ultimately the VW Challenge.

Now stepping onto the national stage, Jayden will be backed by a strong group of partners as he begins his Astron Energy Polo Cup campaign. His sponsors include AA South Africa, Arrie Nel Pharmacy Group, OMP Racing, N4 Autocraft, Origen Oil, Adlem Auto Shell and Maxwell Advertising.

The 2026 Astron Energy Polo Cup season will be contested over seven rounds across four provinces, visiting some of South Africa’s premier circuits before a national champion is crowned later in the year.

For Jayden, the immediate focus is firmly on the season opener at Killarney, where he will aim to build on his previous experience at the circuit and start his debut Polo Cup campaign on a strong note.
