Robinson Targets Red Star SupaCup Momentum Before European Step-Up
Tyler Robinson returns to action next weekend as the South African Touring Cars (SATC) SupaCup championship heads to Round 2 of the season, with the National Extreme Festival making its long-awaited return to Red Star Raceway near Delmas. The Mpumalanga circuit marks the second of four provinces on the 2026 calendar and hosts the national tour for the first time in four years.
For Robinson, the event carries added significance. While she continues to establish herself as a SupaCup rookie, Red Star will also be her first national appearance at the circuit. With valuable seat time at a premium, the weekend presents an important opportunity to build rhythm and confidence in the highly competitive one-make category.
The timing is equally critical. Just days after the Red Star outing, the Team Red driver will shift her focus to the international stage, heading to Germany for the opening round of the German Polo Cup at Oschersleben. With the German series utilising machinery closely aligned to SupaCup specifications, her domestic campaign forms a key part of her preparation for European competition.
“Every lap I get in the SupaCup car here in South Africa is crucial for what lies ahead,” said Robinson. “The level of competition locally is extremely high, and that pushes me to improve constantly. Heading into Germany, I know that racing against this field is preparing me well. The goal is to keep learning, keep improving, and take another step toward building a professional motorsport career.”
Robinson showed strong pace on her debut earlier this season and will aim to translate that into another consistent performance as she continues her development in the category.
Track action gets underway next Friday with three practice sessions, allowing drivers to dial in their setups ahead of an early morning qualifying session on Saturday. Two feature races will then determine the weekend’s results, with valuable championship points on offer.
With one eye firmly on Europe and the other on delivering at home, Red Star Raceway could prove to be a pivotal stepping stone in Robinson’s 2026 campaign.
