Red Star Challenge Awaits Emerging Talent Chase Haskins

Chase Haskins is back on track this weekend for Round 2 of the Investchem MSA4 Championship. The National Extreme Festival is returning to Red Star Raceway for the first time in four years, making this event especially exciting.

The Mpumalanga circuit is very different from the season opener. Its technical layout requires drivers to be precise, keep a steady rhythm, and position their cars carefully. For Chase, this weekend is another important step as he gains experience in South Africa’s top single-seater series.

Fourteen year-old Chase’s progress is especially impressive, given that he had only eight months of karting experience before moving to single-seaters. He is racing against drivers who have been competing for years. Even so, he has already shown he can keep up with the field, proving his natural talent and ability to adapt. Unlike the Cape Town opener, Chase, who competes out of the Kokoro Racing Academy stable has had a chance to test at Red Star Raceway that also hosts ROK Cup karting, where Haskins occupies second place in the national OKN class standings.

Red Star’s return to the national calendar brings extra unpredictability. There is little recent data, and many drivers have not raced much at this track. This could benefit those who adjust quickly, which is something Haskins has already shown he can do well.

The goal for the weekend is clear: keep improving race skills, learn as much as possible in every session, and turn growing confidence into steady results. As the championship begins to take shape, Round 2 represents more than just another race weekend; it is an opportunity for Chase to further establish himself as one of the emerging prospects in South African motorsport, proving that even without the traditional racing background, he is already on pace with the front-runners.

The action gets underway on Friday with three practice sessions followed by an early Saturday morning qualifying session. Two feature races will complete Saturday’s race day.
