Bezuidenhout in the Hunt, Swartz Debuts: Corsa dei Gemelli Set for Red Star Challenge

The penultimate round of the 2025 Investchem MSA4 Championship takes place this weekend at Red Star Raceway, just outside Delmas, as South Africa’s premier single-seater series joins the Regional Extreme Festival, presented by Coca-Cola, to make up for one of the earlier postponed rounds.

For Corsa dei Gemelli (CDG), the season has been one of growth, resilience, and flashes of brilliance across both sides of the garage.

On one hand, Kian Spies’s rookie campaign has been dogged by technical setbacks, but the team has worked tirelessly to turn the tide. That progress has been evident in recent outings, with Kian showing pace and resolve that underline why he was brought into the team. However, he will not line up this weekend, as he heads abroad to represent South Africa in karting at the Tillotson T4 Nations Cup in Spain. In his place, CDG welcomes Kent Swartz, a multiple national karting champion and saloon car competitor, who will make his single-seater debut.

Meanwhile, Mikel Bezuidenhout arrives at Red Star on a wave of momentum. Fresh off a commanding performance at the previous round, where he swept the weekend with pole position and race victories, the 17-year-old is firmly in the title fight. With just two rounds to go, Mikel trails the championship leader by only eight points, turning the battle for the inaugural crown into a thrilling two-horse race.

The challenge this weekend lies in the venue itself. Originally designed for motorcycles, Red Star Raceway is a unique and technical circuit that demands precision and courage in equal measure. For drivers who have yet to turn a wheel there, it promises a steep learning curve and potentially a stage for surprises. Both Mikel and Kent have driven the circuit before and will be leaning on that experience this weekend.

“We know the job that needs to be done this weekend,” commented team principal Jean Bezuidenhout. “Mikel is carrying fantastic momentum, and with Kent stepping in for Kian, it’s an exciting chance to showcase our depth as a team. Red Star will test everyone, but we’re ready.”

Fans can expect another high-octane chapter in the championship, with practice on Friday, followed by qualifying and two race heats on Saturday.

Corsa dei Gemelli extends its appreciation to its valued partners Huawei Mobile, MTN CosmoNet, and Mix 93.8FM for their continued support in driving the team forward.
