Campos Targets Strong Finish at Zwartkops Finale

Keegan Campos will return to Zwartkops Raceway next weekend, determined to finish his 2026 South African Touring Cars (SATC) Championship campaign on a high when the seventh and final round takes place on 16–17 October.

The Johannesburg driver has enjoyed an encouraging season behind the wheel of his Fast Developments Racing-prepared BMW 128ti. Despite missing the opening round at Killarney in March, Campos has remained competitive throughout the campaign, collecting a race victory and several podium finishes to keep himself in contention for a top-three championship finish.

Currently fifth in the standings on 85 points, Campos trails fourth-placed Michael van Rooyen by just six points, with Jason Coetzee a further two points ahead in third. With the championship's final two races still to come, Campos has an opportunity to improve his position in the overall standings.

His return to Zwartkops should provide plenty of encouragement. Campos claimed a podium finish when the championship visited the Pretoria circuit in May, showing that he and the BMW have the pace to challenge at the front.

Since then, his performances have continued to improve. A runner-up finish at Aldo Scribante Racetrack in June was followed by two more second-place finishes when the championship returned to the Eastern Cape in August. Those results marked his strongest overall weekend of the season and underlined the progress made by Campos and the Fast Developments Racing team.

The penultimate round at Killarney in September brought an unfortunate end to the weekend. Following a difficult Friday practice, Campos recovered to qualify fourth on Saturday morning. However, the event was cancelled following the tragic accident involving Extreme Supercars competitor Marcel Angel, who lost his life during the opening race.

Attention now turns to Zwartkops, a circuit where Campos has already demonstrated his competitiveness this season. The technical 2.4km layout features eight corners, a mixture of fast and slower sections, and several heavy braking areas where overtaking opportunities can present themselves.

With championship positions still undecided, qualifying and track position could prove particularly important. Campos will be looking to make the most of his previous experience at the circuit while the team works to extract the best possible performance from the BMW.

Although the season has not always gone according to plan, Campos has shown that he can compete with the championship's leading contenders. His victory at Red Star Raceway, combined with his consistent podium performances, has provided plenty of positives heading into the final weekend.

The National Extreme Festival weekend gets underway on Friday, 16 October, with practice ahead of Saturday's qualifying and two championship races, subject to confirmation of the final timetable.

Campos will once again be supported by Sabelt, Campos Transport, Carello Auto and Veloce Automobili as he looks to end his 2026 campaign with another strong result.
