Haskins Eyes Positive End to Rookie Season

Chase Haskins will return to Zwartkops Raceway on 16–17 October for the seventh and final round of the 2026 Investchem MSA4 Championship, bringing his debut season in South Africa’s premier single-seater championship to a close.

The Johannesburg teenager, competing under the Kokoro Racing Academy banner, heads into the season finale determined to finish on a positive note after a year that has delivered encouraging performances, valuable experience and its fair share of setbacks.

Zwartkops holds positive memories for Haskins, who finished sixth overall when the championship visited the Pretoria circuit in May. Despite teething problems affecting his starts in both races, the rookie demonstrated impressive pace and determination, recovering several positions to finish sixth in the second race.

Since then, Haskins has continued to develop his racecraft while competing against some of the country's most experienced young single-seater drivers. One of his standout performances came at Aldo Scribante Raceway in August, where he qualified on the front row before an opening-lap incident ended his first race. Following extensive repairs by the Kokoro Racing Academy crew, further contact in Race 2 damaged his car's suspension, but he persevered to finish fifth.

While the results have not always reflected his pace, the experience gained throughout his maiden season has provided a valuable foundation for his continued development.

The 2.4km Zwartkops circuit presents a demanding challenge, with its tight corners, heavy braking zones and limited overtaking opportunities placing considerable importance on qualifying and track position. Having already competed at the venue earlier this year, Haskins returns with a better understanding of the circuit and the demands of racing an MSA4 car around it.

For the young rookie, the objective is straightforward: put together a clean weekend, build on the pace he has demonstrated throughout the championship and finish his first season with a competitive result.

Reflecting on the challenges of his rookie campaign earlier in the season, Haskins said:

"Every race teaches you something, whether it’s a good weekend or a tough one. I’ll take what I’ve learnt, keep working hard and come back ready to fight again."

With his first season of circuit racing drawing to a close, the final round offers Haskins another opportunity to measure his progress against an experienced field and carry valuable momentum into the next chapter of his racing career.
