Josh Moore Takes Double Sixth at Zwartkops

Josh Moore delivered two solid sixth-place finishes at Zwartkops Raceway on Saturday as the penultimate round of the 2026 Astron Energy Polo Cup formed part of the National Extreme Festival.

The Worx Motorsport SA rookie continued to gain valuable experience in his first season of national Polo Cup competition, working his way forward in both races to secure another encouraging result ahead of November's championship finale at Kyalami.

Moore showed promising pace throughout Friday's practice sessions, recording the fifth-fastest time in both the opening and final sessions. With the field tightly matched around the 2.4km Pretoria circuit, qualifying proved particularly competitive.

The youngster eventually qualified ninth, narrowly missing out on a place in the six-car Superpole shootout. Although disappointed not to progress further, Moore remained determined to make the most of his starting position in Saturday's opening race.

Starting from ninth on the grid, Moore made good progress through the field in Race 1. The Eastern Cape driver gained three positions over the 10-lap contest, crossing the finish line in sixth place.

His performance also earned him seventh position on the starting grid for Race 2, with the grid determined by the fastest laps recorded during the opening race.

Moore carried that momentum into the afternoon's second encounter. Once again competing in a closely matched field, he gained another position to take the chequered flag in sixth, completing a consistent pair of race performances.

Despite recording sixth-place finishes in both races, the combined race-time classification placed Moore seventh overall for the weekend.

While a top-five result remained just out of reach, the Zwartkops outing provided further evidence of Moore's growing confidence and ability to compete in the fiercely contested national championship.

With his rookie campaign now approaching its conclusion, Moore has one final opportunity to build on the experience gained throughout the season.

The championship heads to Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit in November for its final round, after the historic venue was added to the revised national calendar.

For Moore, it will be another significant occasion as he prepares to conclude his first season in the Astron Energy Polo Cup at one of South Africa's most celebrated racing circuits.
