Josh Moore’s Pace Shines Through Amid Hard-Fought Red Star Races

Rookie Josh Moore continued his development in the highly competitive Astron Energy Polo Cup Championship, tackling Round 2 at Red Star Raceway as the National Extreme Festival returned to the Mpumalanga circuit for the first time in four years.

Friday’s three practice sessions saw the Eastern Cape teenager finding his feet, with times placing him in the bottom half of the field as he built confidence around the demanding 4.0km layout.

However, when it mattered most, Moore delivered. In qualifying, he produced a standout lap to secure 6th place, progressing to the prestigious SuperPole Shootout, where he improved to fourth.

Saturday’s races, however, proved far more challenging. Starting from the second row, Moore made a lightning start and moved into second. Despite his best efforts, he was unable to defend his position and, over the next couple of laps, would lose several positions. By then he got caught up in the typically aggressive, close-quarters racing that defines the Polo Cup. Moore crossed the line in 16th before improving on that in Race 2 to finish 12th.

While the results don’t fully reflect his pace, the weekend once again highlighted Moore’s ability to compete at the sharp end when conditions align.

Reflecting on the weekend, Moore remained positive:

“There are definitely a lot of positives to take from the weekend. Making SuperPole showed the pace we have, and that gives me a lot of confidence going forward. The races were tough with a few incidents, but that’s part of Polo Cup racing and a good learning experience for me. A big thank you to the Worx Motorsport SA team for all their hard work and support, we’ll come back stronger at the next round.”

With another valuable national event under his belt, Moore continues to build both experience and credibility, firmly establishing himself as one of the promising rookies to watch in the 2026 season.
