TAIT RETURNS TO ALDO WITH MOMENTUM

Christopher Tait will head into the fifth round of the Astron Energy Polo Cup carrying valuable momentum after another successful weekend at the Aldo Scribante Racetrack.

The Volkswagen Motorsport driver was already familiar with the Eastern Cape circuit following the previous national championship round there. He strengthened that knowledge this past weekend by competing in the Regional Extreme Festival’s away round in his King Price Extreme-backed Volkswagen Challenge Class A car.

Tait delivered a competitive performance to finish as the runner-up, giving him a welcome confidence boost ahead of his return to Polo Cup competition.

Although the Volkswagen Challenge and Polo Cup cars present different demands, the additional track time allowed the Johannesburg teenager to sharpen his lines, braking references and understanding of the circuit’s changing conditions.

Aldo Scribante was also the scene of Tait’s breakthrough Polo Cup performance earlier this season. After being forced to start the opening race from the back of the grid due to a technical infringement, the rookie fought his way into the top eight. He then produced an impressive drive in the second race to secure his maiden Polo Cup podium with second place.

That performance underlined the progress Tait has made after a difficult start to his rookie campaign, which included several mechanical setbacks. With his confidence continuing to grow, he returns to the circuit better prepared and determined to challenge at the front once again.

“Racing at Aldo again this weekend was extremely valuable,” said Tait. “The Volkswagen Challenge car is very different from the Polo Cup car, but every lap around the circuit helps. Finishing as the runner-up was a great result and gives me confidence going into the national round. We showed what we could do here last time, and the goal is to build on that and fight for another podium.”

Tait’s recent performances have demonstrated that he is becoming increasingly comfortable competing against the experienced Polo Cup regulars. With fresh circuit knowledge and another strong result behind him, he will be looking to turn that progress into another competitive national weekend.

The action gets underway on Friday with practice and qualifying, followed by two feature races on Saturday.
